Company Story

Kinetic Roof Works is a commercial and residential roofing contractor based in Durango, Colorado, founded by Matthew Nelson, a local veteran who has spent over 15 years in the roofing industry. The company was built on a straightforward idea: that a roofing contractor can deliver expert-level work, treat people well, and price jobs fairly without cutting corners on any of the three.

Matthew started Kinetic Roof Works to bring that standard to Southwest Colorado. He assembled a team of skilled tradespeople, invested in the equipment and certifications needed to handle complex commercial and residential projects, and built the company around in-house labor and direct accountability. Every crew member is a Kinetic Roof Works employee, not a subcontractor, because the quality of the work depends on the people doing it.

Today, KRW serves homeowners, property managers, HOA boards, builders, and developers throughout La Plata County and the Four Corners region. We hold manufacturer certifications from Carlisle SynTec, Mule-Hide, and Owens Corning, and we operate a complete metal fabrication shop that gives us capabilities most roofing contractors in the area simply don’t have.

Matthew Nelson — Owner

Kinetic Roof Works was built by Matt, a combat veteran and lifelong builder who learned the value of precision, toughness, and doing the job right long before he ever put his name on a company. Decades of hands‑on construction work shaped his approach: work hard, work clean, and never cut corners. That mindset is the backbone of every roof the company touches.

Before launching Kinetic Roof Works, Matt sharpened his roofing skills with TL Roofing in Durango, taking on demanding jobs and earning a reputation for reliability and straight‑shooting workmanship. With a lifetime spent in construction, he stepped out on his own to build a company rooted in durability, honesty, and real‑world know‑how.

Today, Kinetic Roof Works stands as a veteran‑owned roofing outfit that brings discipline, grit, and solid craftsmanship to every project. Whether it’s a quick repair or a full replacement, the focus stays the same: strong materials, clean work, and roofs built to handle whatever Colorado throws at them. Jerid Cabot — Durango Operations Manager

Jerid Cabot is a roofing professional with Kinetic Roof Works specializing in residential and commercial roofing projects throughout Southwest Colorado. He has experience with shingle, metal, and low-slope roofing systems, including EPDM installations and roof replacements. Jerid focuses on providing accurate estimates, clear communication, and high-quality workmanship built to withstand Colorado’s demanding weather conditions.

Living and working in the mountains, Jerid understands how critical a well-built roof is for protecting homes and buildings from snow loads, high winds, and extreme weather. He takes pride in helping property owners invest in roofing systems that will last and keep their homes safe for years to come.

Outside of work, Jerid enjoys spending time in the mountains of Southwest Colorado skiing, hiking, trail running, fishing, and hunting. He is also a proud father of two and enjoys raising his family in the Durango area

Rosa M — Office Administration

Meet Rosa. Based in Denver, she has a deep love for the outdoors—whether she’s exploring nearby mountain trails or traveling to new destinations. When she’s not working, you’ll find her hiking with her dog or fully embracing her role as the favorite aunt while spending time with family in Texas.

With a background in business administration, Rosa specializes in organization and helping teams work more efficiently together. She’s passionate about creating structure, streamlining processes, and ensuring every team shows up to your location prepared, organized, and ready to get the job done.
